This route is also less and less viable as I started to draw more complex objects from the book, because learning 3D modeling often require some painting basis, thus a deadlock. The other objects I painted are mostly rendered by cycles in blender the 3D modeling software, but they just don't look as vivid as real objects. I tried to recreate them in digital but the resulted lighting are pretty off (especially in the dodecahedron above). Most tutorials and books about sketching are done with paper and pencil. Should I stick to the Basic brushes or try another? In youtube I found painters often use a sponge shaped brush in PhotoShop but I don't know what to use in Krita. I've been using Basic-3 Flow, but when drawing the gradients this gives me very visible bands and sharp edges, so I had to rely on the Blender Blur brush heavily, which in turn yields a foggy look (as in the shadows above).
